Coastone

Coastone is a new biomaterial, designed to show the possibility of naturally derived materials. It utilises materials that are found in close proximity, which reduces the carbon footprint due to lower transport. Coastone can be recast easily, with its aim is to shift a user’s perspective on valuing a material, rather than its form. Its current form is a home speculative home décor piece that allows the user to be inspired and see the versatility of the material. It’s aim is to show designers need to have a deeper understanding of their materials to allow them to apply them more effectively in their work.

Process Book:

This is the full document showing the full process of developing this material. Through this process I discovered a great deal about material development and how these natural materials can be tailored to fit specific applications.

Update:

I had the opportunity to display my work at Green Grads, a company that allows newly graduate designers and artists show their sustainable design projects within London Design Festival. This opportunity allowed me to show the work I had been doing post graduation and the developments I had made while working along side SeedCell.
